Speaking Club Idea

If the "When The Earth Shook" is far too ambitious, I still have another beautiful project to undertake. And it'd be starting a Speaking Club at Ramapo.

Developing public speaking skill is immensely important to each individual but that's where majority of the students slip. However, public speaking skill can be honed through persistent practice. For that, a platform is needed. People created Toastmasters International and Ted Talk to prepare themselves to express their ideas well. At Ramapo, there are 6000 students. A significant portion of them shares the fear of speaking to the public. However, all of them wish to be able to speak better. If such a paltform is initiated, it'll be of great value for everybody. They will be more confident and that will lead to overall better career performance.

This way, I may be able to affect a significant change!!!

Getting Started

After various twists of my life, I'm at Ramapo.
I don't want to be lost here: as was the case elsewhere.
I want to use my FYS class titled "The Idea Lab: Affecting Change" as a grand opportunity to affect the change in my home. We had a devastating earthquake in Nepal in April and hundreds of aftershocks rocked the nation for three months after that. Thousands of lives perished and were wounded. Because the country is facing lots of problems as the consequence of the earthquake, it still needs help. I want to help my country at this moment from a very innovative way.

I had a narrow escape in the earthquake myself. I'm one of the survivors of the massive destruction and loss. Because I dream to be a writer, and because I've lived the horror of the quake, I want to write the story of the earthquake and develop a book!
Two events linked to the earthquake made headlines: A massive avalanche on Mount Everest unleashed by the quake killing 19 people, including one of the executives of Google. And crash of a US rescue helicopter that killed six US marines, two Nepal Army officers, and seven civilians.
I want to connect these two events on my story.
So, how does my book affect change?
I will have the book published and whatever money is earned by its sale, I want to help the victims of the quake back home. If publishing may take lots of time, I will self-publish the book.
